Hi, my name is Brian. I met Sensei Kolesnikov at a local park which was holding a summer fete. He was showing videos of his art and talking about the benefits of mind and body co-ordination. I was looking for some form of art to practise, but after an accident had left me with my right leg 1½ inches shorter than my left leg, with restricted movement in my right hip, I was not to sure of my ability to cope with a demanding martial art.
A couple of months later I decided to give the mind and body co-ordination class a go, which I found enjoyable and very rewarding. I watched the Aikido class, and hought that with all the rolling I would not be able to do it, but after a bit of gentle persuasion I decided to give the Aikido a go.
With a lot of help from Sensei Kolesnikov and the other members, I slowly progressed in the Aikido and mind and body co-ordination. 27 years later on, with a 3rd Dan in Aikido, my life has been enriched with my practise. Also, my balance and stability has improved, along with my ability to live my life with a calm and open mind.
